Roxborough is a family-oriented neighborhood popular with young medical professionals and graduate students for its low crime, and easy access to Center City. It is located northeast of Manayunk with Wissahickon Creek, the Schuylkill River, the neighborhood of Manayunk, and Montgomery County considered its borders. The neighborhood is currently undergoing gentrification due to grants designed to revitalize the area. Many newer businesses, cafes, and restaurants have been springing up along Ridge Avenue, the neighborhood’s main thoroughfare. Despite the newer establishments, Roxborough’s rich history is evident with its near 100-year old homes and sites such as the Hermits Cave Historical Site.
