Roxborough: Restaurants, Schools, and Points of Interest

Cave of KelpiusRoxborough is a family-oriented neighborhood popular with young medical professionals and graduate students for its low crime, and easy access to Center City. It is located northeast of Manayunk with Wissahickon Creek, the Schuylkill River, the neighborhood of Manayunk, and Montgomery County considered its borders. The neighborhood is currently undergoing gentrification due to grants designed to revitalize the area. Many newer businesses, cafes, and restaurants have been springing up along Ridge Avenue, the neighborhood’s main thoroughfare. Despite the newer establishments, Roxborough’s rich history is evident with its near 100-year old homes and sites such as the Hermits Cave Historical Site.

Condo Sales Double 2nd Quarter of 2010

Philadelphia SkylineCondo sales in Philadelphia nearly doubled from the first quarter of this year to the second, and the numbers were better than at any time since the housing downturn began here in August 2007, according to

Data from the Recorder of Deeds Office analyzed by Econsult Corp. vice president Kevin Gillen show that 604 condo sales closed citywide between April 1 and June 30. Of those, 477 units sold for less than $500,000, the analysis shows.

More than 200 separate condo locations were recorded, including some in Northeast Philadelphia, South Philadelphia, and East Falls, according to Gillen’s analysis. The majority were in Center City and adjacent neighborhoods.
