If you're the sort who follows business news or the stock market, you've probably heard the term "market cap" bandied about from time to time.

That's short for "market capitalization" - the value the market places on a company. For publicly traded companies, it's determined by multiplying the price of a share of stock in a company by the total number of shares outstanding for that company.

It turns out that we can come up with a similar "market cap" for urban housing, and over at City Observatory, they've done just that. For a mere $200 million, all this can be yours, along with its celebrity occupant: the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles is for sale, Hugh Hefner included.

Are you, like Hugh Hefner, an aging swinger who's nowhere near ready to give up swinging? Or perhaps you're a Playboy reader who wishes to keep the fantasy alive? (The magazine's last issue featuring photos of nude women went on sale in December, and its Website has been nude-free for four years, so from this point forward, readers really will be buying it for the articles.)

Masterman SchoolNo wonder everyone wants to get in: Julia Reynolds Masterman School in Spring Garden is an academic powerhouse. It's the 60th-best high school in the entire country, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The 2015 edition of U.S. News & World Report's annual rankings of the "Best High Schools" in the country is out, and once again, the best high school in the region, and the only one to make the Top 100 honor roll nationwide, is a public school in Philadelphia.

We call it "water ice." But when Rita's expanded its franchise operation beyond the region, it had to adapt to the rest of the country, which calls the company's fruity frozen treats "Italian ice."

Rita's. Tony Luke's Steaks. Wawa. Philly Pretzel Factory.

These brands virtually bleed Philadelphia from every pore. And all of them are looking to export the experience to places far and wide.

One popular destination, according to a recent article in the Philadelphia Business Journal: Florida. Both Wawa and Tony Luke's have the Sunshine State in their sights. Wawa, which opened its first Florida store in 2012, now has 60 in the state and plans to add another 40 by 2019. Tony Luke, he of the cheesesteak and roast pork Italian sandwiches, told

Feeling flush yet? Your paycheck buys you more home in the Philadelphia area this year than it did in 2012, according to these figures. We'd be glad to show you some attractively priced homes that fit your (larger) budget.

We've said before that Philadelphia is one of the few affordable housing markets in the Northeast. In the last two years, it's become even more affordable, as the median price of homes for sale in Philadelphia actually fell while average wages rose.

The data come from the housing data website RealtyTrac, which compared the percentage change in median house prices with the percentage change in average weekly wages from 2012 to 2014 for the nation as a whole and for 184 metropolitan markets. Nationally, wages couldn't keep up with

Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth ParkFrom Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Park in winter...
Spruce Street Harbor Park...to Spruce Street Harbor Park in summer, Philly's outdoor attractions offer year-round pleasure for residents and visitors alike. Combine them with great shopping and an exciting food scene and you have one great destination - in fact, one that The New York Times named one of 52 must-visit places worldwide this year.

"...diverse, fascinating, and all too often, entirely overlooked."

That's how Thrillist described Philly's food scene when it ranked the city ninth in its list of "The 40 Biggest U.S. Cities, Ranked By Their Food."

You could say the same for the city's shopping, entertainment and outdoor attractions. But not any more, for this year, everyone's giving Philadelphia a second look—and

The editors of a newspaper in battleground Ohio voice sour grapes over the Democrats' decision to convene in Philadelphia next year; for a mere $2.05 million, you can grab yourself a legitimate piece of History in Society Hill—the home built by James Nevels, the master carpenter of Independence Hall and Carpenters' Hall who also founded the city's first architectural school; Hey, lovebirds, need quick, cheap nuptials? A wedding salon in East Lansdowne's got you covered; and while the editor of Curbed Philly was surprised to find out that she was "Country to the Core," we were quite pleased to learn that we were indeed a "City Dweller Fo'eva":
